The organizers revealed that Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was chosen for its symbolic significance and unique location. The bay is not only known for its breathtaking scenery but also for its vulnerable ecosystem, which is under threat from climate change and human pressures.

At the event announcement on September 16, French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet highlighted that the project merges art and environmental responsibility to raise awareness about protecting the planet, aligning with today’s pressing challenges.

Currently, Ha Long Bay receives about 4,000 to 6,000 visitors daily, with 90% being international tourists. Despite the impact of Typhoon Yagi, most tourism activities in the bay have quickly resumed.

To boost autumn and winter tourism, Ha Long City authorities are maximizing the effectiveness of the city’s tourism infrastructure, particularly focusing on cruise passengers through the Ha Long International Passenger Port. Besides sightseeing tours, these cruise visitors are eager to explore and learn about local culture. This week, the Ha Long Bay Management Board will begin surveys to identify islands and beaches suitable for serving ultra-wealthy visitors, aiming to attract more high-end travelers to this natural wonder.

In the first nine months of the year, Ha Long City welcomed 9.2 million visitors, a 33% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Of these, international visitors accounted for 2.13 million, a 2.3-fold increase from last year. Total tourism revenue is estimated at 20,300 billion VND, up 34% year-on-year.
