Hi, I’m Simon. I live in Hanoi and have been guiding travellers across Northern, Central and Southern Vietnam since 2016. Having explored the country from top to bottom, I write the travel guides on this site to share honest, on-the-ground tips – no tourist fluff.
What I do
I’m a local guide and trip planner with Vietnam Discovery Tours, a travel company based in Hanoi. My work is a mix of guiding travellers and helping them plan: choosing a route, comparing Halong Bay cruises, and working out the easiest way to get from one place to the next.

How I write and update these guides
- I write about places I’ve been and routes I’ve travelled myself.
- Prices, visa rules and transport schedules are checked against official sources before a guide goes live.
- Every guide shows the date it was last updated, and I revise posts when things change.
